TBN recently sent out about 2000 e-mails to Internet customers who purchased treadmills from our website asking them to rate the model that they are currently using. We received over 350 responses. In addition to those customers, we polled various Independent treadmill dealers and service technicians. Respondents are asked to rate the treadmills on nine different criteria. Because we use reliability, manufacturer's warranty, and Promptness of service as three of these criteria, our ratings are slightly slanted towards durability. This is by design. In the past, most other publications that rate fitness equipment have neglected to look at quality. We do not want to make the same mistake. Promptness of service reflects the manufacturer's ability to provide the selling dealer or Internet distributor with the parts in a timely manner. Reliability should be measured over several years. Shopability refers to the ability to shop the price of a particular brand or model. Many manufacturers give an exclusive territory to an individual dealer in a geographic area. You may be able to buy a higher rated model and spend less in this case. This rating will be updated on a weekly basis to make it consistently the most up to date and accurate rating anywhere.
