Where did Sports Art come from? After all, companies as big as Sports Art with cutting edge product lines and ISO-9001 and ISO-9002 certification don't just pop up overnight. Sports Art has been in business over 21 years, and has evolved from a small manufacturing concern into the fitness leader it is today. Sports Art is located in Tainan, Taiwan, the ancient capital of Taiwan. The factory is a 200,000 square foot completely vertically integrated facility. Sports Art does virtually everything in house - motors, powder coating, cutting and welding, tooling, electronics, belts and more. Most fitness equipment companies are really only assemblers, outsourcing all the parts. Sports Art is a true manufacturer, doing it all from design to the production line. Sports Art began with small machines like exercise bikes and home steppers for the USA, as well as throughout Europe, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East. Sports Art quickly saw the opportunity to step up into the high quality market. Sports Art knew early on that there was no future being a "lowest cost manufacturer." Companies can only be the lowest cost supplier for a year or two, then another company will come in with a lower price. Sports Art wanted to focus on quality and cutting edge technology. Quality procedures at Sports Art are the most advanced on the island of Taiwan, short of electronics manufacturers. Sports Art's attention to detail and emphasis on quality throughout the manufacturing process means better quality for the end user, and less headaches for the customers of Sports Art. Some of the well known companies in the US who have purchased Sports Art products include: Precor, USA; Universal Gym Equipment; Tunturi, Inc.; Schwinn Fitness; and Aegean International. The Sports Art system ranks above all others because of its attention to detail and emphasis on quality control. Everything is tracked throughout the manufacturing system, and there are multiple quality checks as a product goes through the factory. Parts are inspected upon their arrival at the factory, then checked again as they go onto the assembly line. Once the product is assembled, 100% of the assembled product is tested before it is put into the box and readied for shippment. In addition, a certain percentage of random products are pulled out of stock every day to be completely assembled and tested. Sports Art is an ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 certified factory, as well as having products that are TUV and CE certified. It was extremely difficult for the company to gain these certifications, but Sports Art believes that it is vitally important to keep current on certifications, and to strive for the highest quality ratings. Never too removed from the factory floor or the retailer's showroom, Sports Art keeps the requirements of production, as well as the needs and desires of the end user, in mind constantly, remembering to design and engineer products that work, that fit the lifestyle of the consumer, and that can be produced easily at a reasonable cost. Examples of this can be found throughout the Sports Art product line, from the low end to the high end home/light institutional all the way through to the commercial line featuring 3 HP Club Treadmills, Linear Rowers, Bikes, Combo Weight Machines and Eliptical Trainers. Quality is at a premium, but the price is extremely reasonable. Sports Art is committed to developing cutting edge fitness products, both in the commercial arena and in the home market. They are constantly on the look out for new ideas and new concepts to bring to the fitness industry. Sports Art is a company for this century and the next. A company that is committed to cutting edge technology, while holding to traditions of quality, ethics, and fair business practices. Call it a contradiction, but Sports Art is cutting edge, while still maintaining a traditional business outlook.
